From the Ground Up
Charles Lee began his construction career in Topsail Island, North Carolina in 1969. He gained valuable experience working for a builder on the island, but his boss soon retired. Charlie’s customers were so impressed with his work that he decided to start his own company after his boss’s retirement.
Soon, Charlie was overwhelmed with work and asked his brother-in-law, J.T. Parker, to partner with him. Parker and Lee Builders was born. After a decade of working together, Charlie become sole owner of the company in 1985 and renamed it Lee’s Builders and Repair.
It was important to Charlie that his son, David, grew up working in the business. When Charlie retired in 1994, David took over the company as a sole proprietor. In 2006, the business was incorporated and renamed David Lee Builders, Inc.
Since then, David has worked on dozens of new construction and remodeling projects in Topsail Beach, Sneads Ferry, Hampstead, Surf City, Figure 8, Holly Ridge, Wilmington, and Porters Neck. His work has focused on constructing and remodeling custom single-family residences and beach homes, with some additions and repairs.
In 2020, David’s son Austin joined the company full time. Austin will soon be a licensed contractor and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the company. He is passionate about building quality homes and making sure that customers are satisfied with their projects, just like his father and grandfather before him.
